“I make wooden furniture, mostly functional, though not exclusively. I use mostly local hardwoods, some mixed media including porcelain and metal, and in the last few years, reclaimed timbers have become a favorite….what better feeling than to give potential landfill a bit of a makeover and a new home.
I’m drawn to furniture that is full of evidence that it has been made by a human, regardless of its design: hand cut joinery, saw marks, the burnished surface left by a gouge – tactile appreciations of the building process.
‘Everything is a prototype’. This reminds me to explore, have fun and enjoy the creation, the production and the mistakes.”
